CO Police Get Green with Toyota Highlander Hybrid SUV

June 2nd, 2008 | by admin |

The police department in Aspen, Colorado has spent time testing out the use of a Toyota Highlander Hybrid SUV in efforts to become a greener organization. They have now announced that this Toyota Hybrid SUV will be the car of choice for their entire fleet. Their hope is that use of the Toyota Hybrid can help them to significantly reduce their carbon footprint while still allowing them to do their work.

Testing of Toyota Highlander Hybrid

There was little doubt in the minds of police professionals that the Toyota Hybrid would allow them to be greener. What there was doubt about was whether or not they could still do their jobs efficiently when driving a Toyota Highlander Hybrid in place of their existing cars. Extensive testing showed that the Toyota Hybrid SUV is great for use by the department.

Adding the Toyota Hybrid SUV to the Department

The Toyota Highlander Hybrid is going to be replacing all of the patrol cars currently in use by the Aspen police department. Furthermore, there will be ten additional Toyota Hybrid SUV purchases before the end of the year, six for patrol and six for administrative and detective employees.

Going Green with Toyota Hybrid

The purpose of switching to the Toyota Hybrid SUV is to allow the police department to reduce its carbon footprint. Police have to drive cars but they don’t have to be irresponsible about their driving. The Toyota Highlander Hybrid lets them do the driving they need to do while using less gas and putting out less pollution.
